The exhibition Madrid, City of Dreams: The Urban Cinema of Bigas Luna #YoSoyLaJuani highlights the importance of a film that illustrates the change in the way films are made in Spain and how the capital has become an increasingly important filming location and the centre of the latest cinematographic trends.

This very urban exhibition includes interviews with the director and cast of Yo soy la Juani (My Name is Juani), including Verónica Echegui, Laya Martí and Dani Martín, as well as some of the iconic costumes worn by the actors, the clapperboard, items from the world of car tuning (bodywork, rims, steering wheels...), objects, photographs and pages from the original script.

Shot in 2006, this film was the forerunner of a new way of making films: it was the first film in Spain to be shot in both digital and analogue formats at the same time; its visual language was groundbreaking, close to the world of music videos and contemporary musical aesthetics; and it established a new financing model by using private brands as sponsors.

The exhibition Madrid, City of Dreams: The Urban Cinema of Bigas Luna #YoSoyLaJuani is curated by Betty Bigas and Vicky Calavia.

The exhibition has received the support of several public and private institutions, including the Madrid Film Office, the audiovisual agency of the Madrid City Council; the Catalan Film Archive; Fousion Gallery; Madvein; Factory Magma; and Mediafilms.
