I Shot in the 80s is a photographic journey through the archive of the photojournalist Marivi Ibarrola, who documented a period of cultural ferment that made the city of Madrid the epicentre of new wave music.

Like a veritable fish in water, the photojournalist Marivi Ibarrola moved between stages and concert halls to capture the sheer intensity of Madrid in the 1980s. Before her lens paraded the iconic artists and characters of what came to be known as Madrid’s "Movida movement": Antonio Vega, Radio Futura, Alaska, Loquillo, the Urquijo brothers from Los Secretos, Gabinete Caligari, Siniestro Total, Glutamato Ye-Yé, La Frontera, Aviador Dro and Los Pistones, and many more.

I Shot in the 80s explores the musical and cultural scene of those vibrant years. The time Andy Warhol visited Madrid, the legendary concert by Derribos Arias at the Escuela de Caminos, the nights at the Rock-Ola, the set of La Edad de Oro or Eduardo Benavente’s last concert with Parálisis Permanente, all make up a choral portrait of Madrid in the 80s.
